PULWAMA: To advance the financial literacy initiative, NRLM Pulwama, in partnership with RSATI Pulwama, today completed a week-long financial literacy training for community resource workers.
Meanwhile, the MoRD Under National Rural Livelihoods Mission is supporting institution building of the poor through financial literacy initiatives with an emphasis on the financial empowerment of women, including lending to banks to achieve the desired goal.
DPM-FI, Sakib Shafi, said on this occasion, to impart financial literacy through a series of trainings to create a pool of master trainers; At the district and district level, these trained master trainers would in turn conduct training courses for community cadre personnel referred to as “Financial Literacy CRPs (FL-CRPs)”. At the village level, there would be a team from FL-CRP ‘to train SHG members.
Program Manager NRLM Pulwama, Arsheed Ahmad Bhat, said that these trained leaders / representatives in turn raise awareness among SHG members at regular group meetings. FL interventions would be introduced at the CLF level.
Pulwama Senior District Manager, Khursheed, said the provision of SHGs in the UMEED program provides women with a platform to become entrepreneurs and nurture them until they come out of poverty and enjoy a decent quality of life.
FLCC, Rashid ud din briefed the audience on financial planning, saving, advantages of saving in banks, concept of business correspondents, khidmat centers, difference between formal and informal source of credit, and different types of credit.
The kits were also distributed among the SHG members in the presence of Director RESTI Pulwama.
