Cheema joins APTMA as an energy consultant

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – October 5, 2021): Tahir Basharat Cheema, former CEO of PEPCO (Pakistan Electric Power Company), has joined the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) as an energy advisor.

According to the APTMA spokesman here on Tuesday, Cheema is a graduate engineer and also has a master’s degree in business administration.

He has worked in various positions at WAPDA, in addition to managing the affairs of PEPCO, energy management for the entire energy sector in Pakistan, overseeing the operation of WAPDA companies, assisting the APTMA chairman in management matters and the operations and maintenance area of ​​WAPDA.

He has also developed project management techniques for WAPDA water and power plant wings, engineering review concepts, supervised recovery of WAPDA claims, and assisting WAPDA vice chairman in rescuing WAPDA.

From 2011 to 2014 he was a member of the Governors of Pakistan Engineering Council and worked for IEEEP Pakistan.

He has authored over 200 research papers, 37 of which have been published in the past two years.

He was also awarded the WAPDA’s Pride of Performance Shield for 1991 and the APNS Award for Best Public Relations 2007-08.

In APTMA, Cheema will manage energy-related policy and implementation matters of the member plants and advise them on all possible energy-related issues, including electricity and gas.

APTMA Chairman Abdul Rahim Nasir, Northern Zone Chairman Hamid Zaman and all APTMA members welcomed Cheema’s admission to the organization and hoped that his solid professional background in the export-oriented industry in general and APTMA members in particular would benefit from the Solving the energy problems of the textile sector.
