New York Institute of Finance promotes capital market education in Trinidad and Tobago

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – (BUSINESS WIRE) – The Trinidad and Tobago International Financial Center (Trinidad and Tobago IFC), the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and the New York Institute of Finance (NYIF) today announced a new partnership to bring financial education in Trinidad and Tobago he country is developing into a regional financial center.

IFC Trinidad and Tobago was founded to build a strong financial services industry by attracting foreign direct investment into the sector and creating sustainable jobs. As part of this mandate, the company is investing in educational resources to equip the next generation of leaders with world-class, outsourced educational opportunities. As technology has changed over the years with the evolving global environment, the country’s human resource needs have also changed. As a national university, UTT is developing a highly skilled and skilled technological workforce and has therefore been selected as the most suitable partner institution to carry out this program.

NYIF, one of the US’s oldest and most respected financial services education providers, will partner with the IFC of Trinidad and Tobago later this year to offer courses on a range of financial markets through UTT. This will give current college students and graduates an opportunity to learn from some of NYIF’s faculties, which include some of America’s foremost experts in their fields, including Claudia Crowley, former NYSE Regulation CEO and lead author and educator John Palicka.

According to Varun Maharaj, CEO of Trinidad and Tobago IFC, the partnership will help expand the skills of the country’s growing pool of world-class financial services professionals by offering modules on topics and issues currently unavailable at UTT.

Given our geographic location and well-educated English-speaking population, this is a very achievable goal, but we aim to nurture and empower local students with world-class educational opportunities so that they can play a role in our plan. Claudia Crowley and John Palicka will deliver a five-day intensive course on international capital markets, regulation and compliance. Claudia will teach about regulation the first day and John will teach about international capital markets for the next four days. Claudia was previously CEO of NYSE Regulation and Chief Regulatory Officer of each of NYSE Euronext’s US stock exchanges. John is a well-respected financial services manager with more than 30 years of experience and is currently President of Global Emerging Growth Capital. He is also the author of Fusion Analysis and a valued finance educator. The next course on the training calendar will be a Core Competency Analyst program with an accounting bootcamp.
