Wockhardt is committed to delivering COVID vaccines at a reasonable price, says Chairman Khorakiwala
Wockhardt is committed to delivering COVID vaccines at a reasonable price, chairman Habil F. Khorakiwala told CNBC-TV18.
“We discussed with the government that India must remain the main vaccine supplier and said we are ready to invest and build the capacity of 2 billion doses. So we wanted government help in certain areas and we are committed to providing vaccines to both central and state governments at a reasonable price, ”said Khorakiwala.
Regarding India, he said: “Among the emerging markets, India is the only country that has great potential in terms of the number of manufacturers.”
The company, meanwhile, also predicts a £ 45 million deal in the next year from the bottling and manufacturing of vaccines.
“We are anticipating £ 45million of business for the next year because it was only for a few months this time and from the orders we have already received and are likely to receive and add. We would do it not only for the UK government, but also for AstraZeneca. Therefore, the combined impact would be £ 45 million in upcoming business and this will be a huge boost to both our sales and bottom line, ”said Khorakiwala.
