New stores and more to open in central Pa.: Hobby Lobby, Dave & Buster’s, a spa, others

Numerous stores and more to open in Central Pa.

There are numerous stores set to open in central Pennsylvania. but, we’re going to actually start off the list with a spa in the Hershey area that plans to feature six Hershey’s dark chocolate treatments. Meltspa by Hershey plans to open this month. A number of new stores just opened in Tanger Outlets Lancaster’s new expansion and one of two new Hobby Lobby stores in the store will open on Labor Day. Changes continue to take place on Jonestown Road on the East Shore and the Carlisle Pike on the West Shore as well as at the Capital City Mall in Lower Allen Township.

Here’s a list of some of the new stores and other businesses expected to open in central Pa., from small businesses to major retailers as well as others that have opened recently.

Meltspa by Hershey

Melt Spa by Hershey day spa will open Sept. 12 at 11 E. Chocolate Ave. in Derry Township. The spa will feature six Hershey’s dark chocolate treatments including Hershey’s dark chocolate sugar scrub; dark chocolate dipped strawberry treatment and dark chocolate immersion. The spa has begun accepting appointments.

Hobby Lobby – East Shore

National arts-and-crafts retailer,

Hobby Lobby plans to open a store 

at 5074 Jonestown Road in the Colonial Commons shopping center in Lower Paxton Township on Monday. The 67,000-square-foot space previously housed a Giant Food Store. Giant relocated to the former Gander Mountain Store on Jonestown Road.

Dick’s Sporting Goods

Dick’s Sporting Goods will be opening a store at the Capital City Mall in Lower Allen Township and is expected to open late summer/early fall. Dick’s Sporting Goods also owns Field & Stream which has a store in the parking lot of the Capital City Mall. The store will be located where the mall is redeveloping the former Sears space that will also include Sears Appliance & Mattress, Fine Wine & Good Spirits and one more yet to be named tenant. The store is expected to open later this year.

Sears Appliance & Mattress

Sears is making a comeback to the Capital City Mall.

Yes, that’s right.

Well, sort of.

Sears will be opening a 15,000-square-foot, Sear’s Home Appliance & Mattress in the part of the mall where the former Sears was located and where the mall is redeveloping the space that will also include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Fine Wine & Good Spirits and one more yet to be named tenant. The store is expected to open in the fall.

Stein Mart

Stein Mart, a discount retail chain is

expected to open later this year 

in the shopping center at 5600 Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township. The 36,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open on Oct. 19. The next closest Stein Mart stores are in the Philadelphia and Allentown areas. The chain says on average its stores employ 40 associates. It is one of 10 new stores that the Jacksonville-based company is planning to open nationwide this year, including five stores that the company opened in March. The chain has more than 290 stores in more than 30 states.

Aaron’s

More than three years ago, a fire in the 3200 block of Paxton Street in Swatara Township caused severe damage to a Monro Muffler Brake & Service location and its neighbor, Aaron’s. After the fire, neither Monro or Aaron’s reopened at that location. But that’s about to change. Aaron’s is expected to reopen at 3243 Paxton St. on Oct. 21. Since the fire, Aaron’s has been located at 2525 Paxton St. in the former Rimco. The Aaron’s franchise opened on Paxton Street in 2001. Aaron’s sells rent-to-own furniture, electronics, appliances and more. The location will also include one other yet to be named tenant. Monro will not be coming back to the location. Aaron’s will be located on the side of the property that previously housed Monro.

T-Mobile – East Pennsboro Township

T-Mobile will open a store at the Summerdale Plaza at 429 N. Enola Road in East Pennsboro Township. That store is expected to open next month.

CVS Pharmacy – Lower Paxton Township

CVS plans to open a new store in May at 5001 Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township. Construction began last month.

Mid Penn Bank

Mid Penn Bank plans to build a branch office on Peters Mountain Road/State Route 225 in Halifax Township.

T-Mobile – Carlisle

Cell phone company, T-Mobile will open a store in October at 235 S. Spring Garden St. in Carlisle.

CVS Pharmacy – Hummelstown

CVS plans to open a new store next summer at East Main St. and Quarry Road in Hummelstown.

Pet Valu

Pet Valu will open in the Colonial Commons shopping center at 5070 Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township. The store is tentatively scheduled to open in Novemeber. Pet Valu carries food, supplies, toys and other products for dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, fish and other animals.

Hobby Lobby – West Shore

Hobby Lobby may be opening a new store in the Harrisburg area in two days but, it won’t be the only new Hobby Lobby store in the area. Hobby Lobby will open a new store on the West Shore. The company is planning to

open a new store 

at 5600 Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township in June.

Provisions

You can live, eat and work in Strawberry Square in Harrisburg and soon you will be able to buy your groceries there as well. Provisions, a 2,350-square foot grocery store selling selling fresh and nutritious foods is expected open in the fall in Strawberry Square.

PinnacleHealth Strawberry Square FamilyCare

PinnacleHealth Strawberry Square FamilyCare isn’t technically a business but, we’ve added it to the list considering it will offer services previously unavailable at Strawberry Square.  The practice is expected to open in mid-November adjacent to the new Rite Aid store in the former Modern Jewelers space.

Fairfield Inn & Suites

Shaner Hotels has leased land from the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority, which operates HIA, and will open a hotel at the airport. Fairfield Inn & Suites will be connected by a skybridge to the airport. The 120-room hotel in Lower Swatara Township is expected to open next summer.

Comfort Inn & Suites-Harrisburg Airport

Restin Hospitality plans to bank on the close proximity to Harrisburg International Airport and will offer an airport shuttle service when it opens Comfort Inn & Suites-Harrisburg Airport at 1589 West Harrisburg Pike in Lower Swatara Township. The four-story, 87-room hotel will include 31 king suites and is expected to

open in the spring.

Dollar General – Harrisburg

The former Family Dollar store in the Uptown Plaza shopping center at 2941 N. 7th St. in Harrisburg will reopen as a Dollar General store. The store is expected to reopen in the fall. It is one of two former Family Dollar stores in the area that will become Dollar General stores. The new Dollar General stores are apart of a 323 store acquisition.

involves a couple of acquisitions, a ruling by the Federal Trade Commission and a number of discount chains: Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, Dollar Express and Dollar General.

Fine Wine & Good Spirits

Technically, a state liquor store isn’t a business but, we included it on our list anyway. These days, malls are looking beyond traditional retailers to lease space, and this is certainly one of those examples. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will open a 11,500-square-foot Fine Wine & Good Spirits store at the Capital City Mall later this year. It will open in the part of the mall where the former Sears was located and where the mall is redeveloping the space that will also include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Sears Appliance & Mattress, and one more yet to be named tenant. The store is expected to open at the end of the summer.

Dollar General – Susquehanna Township

The former Family Dollar store in the Dauphin Plaza shopping center at 3810 Union Deposit Road in Susquehanna Township is expected to reopen as a Dollar General store in the fall.  It is one of two former Family Dollar stores in the area that will become Dollar General stores. The new Dollar General stores are apart of a 323 store acquisition.

Dave & Buster’s

Dave & Buster’s will open 

at the Capital City Mall in Lower Allen Township. The entertainment complex/restaurant is expected to open in 2018. The closest locations are in the Philadelphia area and in Maryland

Toys R Us

Toys R Us has signed

a lease for the 23,500-square-foot space that previously housed OfficeMax,

according to Metro Commercial’s website

. The new Toys R Us store would bring Toys R Us back to the East Shore, although there is a Babies R Us on the East Shore. The Babies R Us is at the Paxton Towne Center in Lower Paxton Township, which is across the street from Colonial Commons. A Toys R Us in Swatara Township

closed in 2015.

There is no word yet when Toys R Us will open. However, it won’t be for a while considering Spirit Halloween will open a temporary location in the space before it becomes a Toys R Us.

Aldi

According to a listing by Bennett Williams Commercial Realty, Aldi Inc. has leased a 20,419- square-foot space at 4700 Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township where a former N.B. Liebman furniture store operated. No word yet, on when the Aldi store will open.

HomeGoods

Pomegranate Real Estate announced on its website

that

HomeGoods wil

l join the shopping center at 5600 Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township. 

HomeGoods sells home decor and home furnishings. The store is expected to open later this year. A HomeGoods store opened in the Colonial Commons shopping center in Lower Paxton Township in 2015.

Marshalls

Pomegranate Real Estate announced on its website that Marshalls, a discount retail chain is expected to open later this year in the shopping center at 5600 Carlisle Pike in Hampden Township. Marshall’s also has stores at Colonial Commons in Lower Paxton Township and at the Silver Spring Commons shopping center in Silver Spring Township

Sam’s Club

A new Sam’s Club is expected to open in York County later this year at 261 Wilson Ave. in Hanover. The approximately 136,000-square-foot Sam’s Club which will be located in the Gateway Hanover shopping complex, has been in the works for about five years, and includes more than 500 parking spaces and a separate fuel station, according to an Evening Sun report. The store will hold a grand opening on Sept. 14 with a ribbon-cutting at 8 a.m. The club’s fuel station opened on Tuesday.

Sheetz

Sheetz is expected to build a location at the corner of Poplar Church Road and Erford Road in East Pennsboro Township. Triple Crown Corporation has also announced plans for retail, dining, a hotel and a five-story apartment building on the site of the recently demolished Senate Plaza property. The businesses are planned to be operational by mid-2018.

A&A Auto Stores

A&A Auto

A&A Auto will open a location at Keystone Arms in Middlesex Township at 1053 Harrisburg Pike and is expected to open in the fall, LMS Commercial Real Estate announced on its website.

Hoover Physical Therapy P.C.

Hoover Physical Therapy P.C. leased approximately 1,200-square-feet of space at 3507 Market Street in Hampden Township. This will be a new location for the physical therapy center, according to The Bill Gladstone Group of NAI CIR which represented the tenant in the real estate transaction. The lease will start in the fall.

The York Indoor Golf & Training Center

The York Indoor Golf & Training Center at 807 Loucks Road in York has opened. The 3,600-square-foot practice and training center has four golf simulators, two practice hitting bays, a 500-square-foot practice putting/chipping green, a conference room and a retail area.

Nextaff of Greater Harrisburg

Nextaff of Greater Harrisburg, an employment agency, has opened at 4813 Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township. The office uses a software called X Factor that was developed by Nextaff to best match people with jobs. The firm will work with businesses and people in Dauphin, Cumberland and Lebanon counties as well as surrounding areas

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gettysburg South West

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Gettysburg South West at 1871 Gettysburg Village Drive in Mount Joy Township, Adams County, opened in August and includes 99 rooms and suites and is located adjacent to the Outlet Shoppes of Gettysburg, according to Destination Gettysburg which says that Adams County is on pace to set an all-time record in hotel sales this year.

Best Western Gettysburg

Best Western Gettysburg opened in May at 301 Steinwehr Avenue in Gettysburg replacing a former America’s Best Value Inn motel, according to Destination Gettysburg which says that Adams County is on pace to set an all-time record in hotel sales this year. The new hotel has 81 rooms and overlooks the Gettysburg battlefield.

Run Higher Training studio in Fairview Township opened on Friday at 764 Old Quaker Road. the 900-square-foot oversized three-car garage has been transformed into a training studio. The Lewisberry-area studio offers personal training, partner training as well as training for athletes and sports teams.

Dollar General’s 14,000th store

When the Dollar General store at 881 Peters Mountain Road in Middle Paxton Township, Dauphin County opened recently it became the retailer’s 14,000th store.

T-Mobile – Colonial Park Mall

T-Mobile opened a second location at the Colonial Park Mall at 4600 Jonestown Road in Lower Paxton Township.

CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health Behavioral Health Center/The CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health Lancaster Dental Center

CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health’s new behavioral and dental centers aren’t businesses but, we’ve included them on the list. The CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health Behavioral Health Center offers offer psychiatric services including evaluations, assessments and medication management as well as behavioral health counseling services. The CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health Lancaster Dental Center provides dental exams and cleanings, preventative services, fillings, root canals, crowns and extractions. T-Mobile – Swatara Township

T-Mobile opened a store at the High Pointe Commons shopping center at 4640 High Pointe Blvd. in Swatara Township.

Spirit Halloween has leased space for a temporary store in the Colonial Commons shopping center at 5098 Jonestown Road in the former OfficeMax and future Toys R Us store. Spirit Halloween has also leased space for a temporary store in the former Borders store at 3515 Gettysburg Road in Lower Allen Township. The stores sell costumes, masks, wigs, indoor and outdoor décor items, makeup, props and more for Halloween.

Brown Golf Management purchased this approximately 4,800-square-foot space located at 106 S. Saint John’s Drive in Hampden Township. The owners plan on using the location for their golf management company’s home office, according to The Bill Gladstone Group of NAI CIR which represented the seller in the July transaction.

Keystone PF Acquisition LLC leased 6,000 square feet of office space at 2010 State Street in Lower Allen Township. The company will use the space as a regional headquarters location, according to The Bill Gladstone Group of NAI CIR which represented the tenant in the second quarter real estate transaction.

The Law Office of Tucker R. Hull LLC held a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration at 108 W. Main St., Annville on Aug. 15 with the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Tucker Financial Services Inc.

Tucker Financial Services Inc. opened a branch office in Lemoyne at 2 Lemoyne Drive earlier this year. The company offers a variety of services including retirement planning, investment management, estate planning, wealth management, college planning and investment tax planning. The firm’s owner, Chris Jackson acquired the Chambersburg-based firm in January.

A ribbon-cutting and grand opening was held with the Borough of Steelton for The Skate Shop at Rayzor Tattoos, on August 5 at 4 S. front St. in Steelton.

The Carlisle Hearing Center held a grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 15 State St. in South Middleton Township on Aug. 9 with the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Downtown Counseling Center

The Downtown Counseling Center held a ribbon-cutting at 155 S. Hanover Street in Carlisle on Aug. 11 with the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce.

Erik & Nicki Gwynn’s Beneath the Skin Tattoo and Piercing

Erik & Nicki Gwynn’s Beneath the Skin Tattoo and Piercing held a ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration at 38 N. 8th St., Lebanon on Aug. 18 with the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Tanger Outlets Lancaster

Tanger Outlets Lancaster expanded 

its shopping center in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County. The expansion added nearly 50 percent more retail space. The shopping center celebrated its expansion with a grand opening at 9 a.m. Sept. 1. The expansion began in the summer of 2016 and added 123,000 square feet of retail.
