ATHOL – Personal banking during the COVID-19 pandemic wasn’t easy. For many weeks, banks in the region were forced to close their doors to the public because of concerns about spreading the virus. Thanks to a new partnership with ACI Worldwide, Athol Credit Union will offer its members a new online bill payment service that allows cash payments through a network of more than 60,000 participating retailers. According to a press release, this new service will allow members to make loan payments safely and securely while expanding options for those who wish to make payments with cash.
In the coming months, ACU will integrate ACI Speedpay into its existing online banking system. With this software, ACU members can make loan payments online using a computer or mobile device, eliminating the need to visit the branch in person or pay postage for the check. Starting this fall, ACU will be rolling out ACI MoBills, which members can use to pay with cash at local retailers. This easy-to-use app generates a barcode on the member’s smartphone that is scanned by the retailer so that the retailer can easily process a cash payment for an on-site loan. ACI moBills can be integrated into other mobile wallet systems such as Apple Pay to enable even faster access to the cash payment process.
“We are proud to introduce this new option to our members,” said Courtney Fifield, President and CEO of Athol Credit Union. “Our goal when introducing new technologies is to make banking easier for our members. With this new service, our members who wish to pay for their ACU loans with cash can do so anywhere. It’s about banking at your pace, not ours. “
“ACU enhances its member experience through the convenience of online and mobile channels,” said Sanjay Gupta, executive vice president of ACI Worldwide. “With ACI Speedpay, ACU members can pay their bills digitally or via digitized cash payments on the go, ensuring a more seamless invoice payment experience regardless of location.”
The introduction of this new payment system follows the introduction of a new website by ACU that provides easy access to the services provided by ACU.
“We want to make sure our institution is driving technological advances, but we also want to make sure we don’t leave anyone behind. We are here to provide financial services to our entire community, including those who want to keep visiting us in person, ”says Fifield. “We want to be as modern as possible, but not at the expense of losing members.”
Athol Credit Union was founded in 1930 and is a member-owned, not for profit, credit union committed to providing quality banking products, exceptional service and financial literacy to the North Quabbin community.
