VIDEO INTERVIEW: Zeeshan Qureshi, head of Haier Mobile in Pakistan and Afghanistan, believes adapting mobile devices to specific markets creates “a lot of potential” and is an opportunity for the Chinese consumer electronics brand to strengthen its hand in the mobile space.
Pointing out that brands with a broader international appearance are not necessarily equally market-tailored, the managing director said, “In an emerging market, there is something that you can localize, customize, and create based on customer demand, with a lot of potential “.
This localization has enabled Haier to “use this localization and customization approach” to enter into contracts with operators such as Mobilink and Telenor.
Qureshi noted that Haier has initiatives under way “to create some kind of customer trust,” for example by covering theft and accidental claims in a price-sensitive market. He also cited working with the government on health initiatives.
The chief noted that the Indian government also has initiatives to promote local manufacturing, adding that Haier is already on this path in Pakistan – “this is a kind of technology transfer from China to Pakistan,” he said.
